Our Mission Statement:
The mission of the Wood Stack Police Department is to reduce criminal activity that occurs on the streets of our beloved town, as well as any that occur in the surrounding area. We will strive to preserve the lives and livelihoods of the citizens that reside here, and work to uphold the laws put in place by both local, state, and federal governments.
I want to:
One of the most common crimes that occurs in Wood Stack is petty theft. To minimize the calls made to 911 and Non-Emergency regarding such cases, please do your part to protect yourself and your property with the following steps:
Do not leave personal items unattended.
Valuables such as wallet, car keys, cell phone (etc.) should be kept on your person directly, rather than in a purse or backpack when possible.
If you see suspicious individuals that may have the intent of theft, consider calling non-emergency as a preemptive measure.
Your home is your castle, and its security should be taken very seriously. In an attempt to keep yourself and others who reside within your home safe, along with your possessions, consider the following:
Keep doors locked at all times, even when you are present.
Windows on the first floor should remain sealed and shut when you are absent.
Alarm systems are usually enough to deter criminal activity.
If you do not wish to invest in an alarm system, consider simply acquiring and posting a sign that declares you possess one, as most criminals would rather search for an easier target.
If you see suspicious activity in your neighborhood, call non-emergency or your local neighborhood watch.
Another very common occurrence in Wood Stack is damage to vehicles or theft of items from vehicles. To prevent this, be sure to take these measures:
Keep vehicle locked when unattended.
Do no park or leave vehicle in at-risk areas whenever possible.
Do not leave valuables in the vehicle.
Keep loose or valuable items (such as radios, backpacks, stereos) out of sight if left in the vehicle. Doing so will minimize the risk of thieves attempting to retrieve them.
Wood Stack is an open book. In continuing with this town-trend, all previously closed case files and records are public for citizen viewing. You can request specific reports right here from the site, or by calling into our department. Having the Case File Number (CF#) of the specific file you wish to view would be very helpful for expediting the process. Please note that all currently open or unsolved case files are exempt from this rule.
For the sake of public safety, PSAs will be announced in times when the Wood Stack Police Department feels that there is a definite need for information to be released. Examples of these would include: The institution of a curfew, dangerous individuals on the loose, recent dangerous activity, if there is an uptick in criminal activity in your area.
In the case of any emergency, call 911 immediately. If you or another are in immediate danger, if you fear for your safety or the safety of others, if you see damage being inflicted to another individual, private or public property, or any other serious infraction of the law being committed, then you ought to call 911.
However, you should call NON-EMERGENCY if: you have found items that could be a danger to public safety, see non-threatening suspicious activity, found that a crime has been committed within the last day, if your home or another structure was broken into or vandalized but the perpetrator is not nearby.
